Twenty-two towns across the state line from Kenosha

The radius crosses the Wisconsin and Illinois line. Sixteen of the towns are in Wisconsin, where roofers on one- and two-family homes generally fall under the DSPS dwelling contractor rules. Six are in Lake County, Illinois, where the roofer needs an IDFPR licence under the Illinois Roofing Industry Licensing Act. A roofer working on one side does not carry the other side's credential, so each town's page says which rules apply.

Inland from the shore the weather is different. Lake-effect snow falls off to the west of Green Bay Road, so the towns of Union Grove, Paddock Lake and Wilmot see less of the shoreline band and more of the wind lines that cross the county. Racine and Kenosha each have historic districts, and the roof rules inside them are for the local commission to confirm.
