How Kenosha Roofing works
Kenosha is a Lake Michigan shore city between Milwaukee and Chicago, with Racine to the north and Waukegan across the state line to the south. The lake sets the roof work: snow that stacks up along the shore, wind lines that come off the water in spring and autumn, and lakefront houses that take the full force of it.
Kenosha Roofing takes the roof call and passes it to a local roofing company. The company does the work and holds the credential its state requires, and it confirms the price on site after it has measured the roof.
One independent local roofing company does the work, licensed or certified where its state requires it
Every job that starts with a call to Kenosha Roofing is performed by one independent local roofing company, not by this website. We listen, take down the address and the trouble, and hand it across; that company inspects the roof, prices it, employs the crew and holds the agreement with you. We own no ladders and no trucks.
The credential the company needs depends on which side of the state line your house sits, and it is the company’s job to have the right one. In Wisconsin we found no separate roofing-only licence: roofers working on one- and two-family homes generally come under the Department of Safety and Professional Services dwelling contractor credentials, with a bond or insurance the Department sets, so ask the contractor for its DSPS credential and check it with DSPS. For a home in Lake County, Illinois — Winthrop Harbor, Zion, Waukegan, Gurnee, Lake Villa or Antioch — roofing is a licensed trade: the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation licenses roofing contractors under the Illinois Roofing Industry Licensing Act, and an official issuing a roofing permit has to see proof of a current state licence first. Either way, holding it, insuring its own work and answering to the agency that granted it are the contractor’s obligations, and a Wisconsin credential never covers Illinois work or the reverse. We have not audited anybody’s record and do not say we have.
The number is available on request, always. Ask on (833) 751-2102, or ask the roofer when they ring to arrange the climb, and ask to see the credential before you sign. It is not printed on this page because it is a small firm’s own private information. Check what you are given with DSPS for a Wisconsin job, or with IDFPR for an Illinois one. A permit is a separate matter: Kenosha, for instance, does not require one for reshingling alone on a one- or two-family dwelling, but new plywood decking does need a roof permit, so confirm your job with the Kenosha Department of City Inspections or your own village or city building department.
